ABOUT NICK ADKINS

Worker's Comp Lawyer in Cape Girardeau Missouri

Nick has represented Workers’ Compensation Employees since 2013, and he practices out of the Cape Girardeau and Farmington locations. There is nothing more important to Nick than doing a good job for his clients.

Nick was born and raised in Northeast Arkansas. His upbringing was spent around farmers, construction workers, truckers, and factory workers. He is the son of a “radio man” and a Special Education teacher.

Nick will tell you that the most important part of his job is securing good medical treatment for his clients. He will not recommend you resolve your case until you are fully satisfied that you are at “maximum medical improvement.” He understands that we only get one body, and his clients typically only get one case.

Nick knows that a carelessly concluded workers’ compensation claim may cause the unnecessary loss of Social Security Disability, Medicare, Medicaid, or SSI benefits. He will help you avoid the unnecessary loss of one or more of those benefits.

You should also know that if some of your medical bills were paid by health insurance or you received short term or long-term disability benefits under a disability policy, your health insurance company and/or your disability insurance company may be entitled to be repaid after you have settled your workers’ compensation case. Nick can help you avoid that problem and help you insist that the settlement with the workers’ compensation insurance company protect you from those risks.

Nick lives in Missouri with the love of his life, and many animals. He enjoys getting outside and playing sports, but nothing more than spending time with his family.

Frequently Asked Questions

If I'm injured on the job, can I be recompensed?

Yes, you can. As long as you were working when you were injured, you may be able to receive compensation for your injury. Contact our workmans comp lawyers to find out more.

How does Worker's Compensations work in Missouri?

Workers compensation covers your medical expenses and wage loss when you're injured at work. Not every company offers workers compensation. For example, riverboat and railroad companies do not have this type of insurance. Instead, The Jones Act insures riverboat employees while the Federal Employers Liability Act covers railroad workers. Contact our workmans comp lawyers today to learn more.

What is the difference between workers compensation and The Jones Act and FELA?

The main difference is unlimited recovery. Workers compensation only offers you a certain amount for your recovery whereas The Jones Act and FELA can compensate you for any amount. However, there are certain types of treatment that may not qualify. Our workman's comp lawyers can help you determine whether you are eligible.

What can I be compensated for?

If our personal injury and workers comp lawyers successfully file your claim, you may be entitled to receive compensation for medical bills, treatment, wage loss, reduced earning capacity, and disability.

What should I do after being injured?

Following an injury, you should reach out to one of our experienced personal injury and workers comp lawyers. By turning to our attorneys after the accident, you may have a better chance of securing full compensation for your injury.

Why do I need an attorney?

While you're entitled to compensation for your workplace injury, your employer and its insurance company may not provide you with sufficient funds. Claims adjusters try to save their insurance company as much money as they can, which may prevent you from receiving proper payments. For this reason, you need highly effective lawyers to help you secure compensation. With a combined 120 years of experience in personal injury and workers compensation cases, we can help you strengthen your case.
